Mike was an outstanding athlete, representing his country in soccer, track and field and golf. On his retirement from active competition, his interest shifted to sports administration. In 1962 he was elected the first Secretary General of the Barbados Olympic Association and in 1969 was elected President of the Association, in which capacity he served for twelve years. He was Chef-de-Mission to the Barbados Olympic Teams to the Olympic Games in Munich 1972, Montreal 1976 and Seoul 1988.

Mike also served for fifteen years as an executive member and Treasurer of the Pan American Games Organization (PASO), and attended every Pan American Games as a Games Official from 1963 in Sao Paulo, Brazil until 1991 in Havana, Cuba.

In 2003, on the 35th anniversary of the XIX Olympic Games in Mexico City, Mike was honored by the Barbados Olympic Association as a member of the first ever Barbados Olympic Team to the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 and for his contribution to the Olympic Movement.

Mike served for many years as President of both the Barbados Golf Association and the Caribbean Golf Association and in 1994 and 2006 was honored by the Caribbean Golf Association for his contribution to golf in the Caribbean and the development of the Amateur Golf Championships.
